We won the bid/competition for a new primary school in the heart of the Goldthorpe community following a design presentation and interview.
Our proposal was a statement of the future aspirations of both the town and the school, providing modern and inspirational educational facilities for pupils from the age of 3-11.
The authority required the new school to provide 26 FTE nursery places and suitable accommodation to support a yearly intake of 40 pupils, with the inclusion of additional space to allow fluctuations in intake in the short-to-medium term. The school was designed to cater for a capacity of 310 places (excluding nursery). We achieved this by providing a 40-place FS2 class base and 9 classes of 30 places for KS1 and KS2.
The visual impact of the school frontage was also an important element of the architectural concept and we responded to this ambition with a colourful and welcoming design palette.
